Tips to Curb Cravings

Though it can seem impossible, there are some ways to deal with the nicotine cravings along your journey to becoming tobacco-free.

 

 




  • Take deep, slow breaths
  • Brush your teeth or wash your hands
  • Substitute a water bottle, gum, candy or toothpicks for tobacco
  • Use over-the-counter quitting aids like nicotine gum or the patch
  • See your doctor about prescription nicotine-replacement medications
  • Surround yourself with others who are committed to helping you quit
  • Avoid tempting situations or places
  • Fill your “cigarette hand” with other objects like a pencil or pen
